In last night’s exclusive interview with Daniel Libeskind, the Polish/American starchitect gave his emphatic support to World Architecture Day. Speaking to Michael Hammond from his practice in New York, he underlined the importance of uniting industry leaders to address the current issues facing urban development. Whilst he acknowledged that every city faces different challenges, it is only through collective participation that we can promote best practice and bring about resilient infrastructures and social innovation.
The architect also discussed his involvement with Detroit, a city that has undergone considerable transformation during the economic downturn. He stressed the significance of using a different socio-economic model and the necessity of creating more intelligent spaces to improve the lives of its citizens.
